Strictly business, because I can’t stand to lose it…
Barriers around me from their backhanded movements,
half bloomed confusion; gave myself to therapeutics,
I was searching for my fix by pleasing people that are stupid.
I guess that means I’m human…who’da thunk that I was stoopin’ -
to a level lower hominids would shy from in their blueprint?
When I stopped…I only found the world was movin’
felt them leave me in the dust after I taught them how to do this.
When you finally need some guidance? Leadership is cruelty…
They’ll sap you of your light until the night that you’re uprooted,
Trunk in disarray, reflecting on excuses…
Stare at all your leaves, but they shatter when you lose ‘em.
The sun won’t teach you nothin’ - the cold makes you a student,
You don’t even see who’s there because you can’t see where the moon is.
Darkness feeling roomy, the wind feels like it’s teeth
gnashing at your side before it even lets you speak.
No use, you can’t be pencils…and decay just starts to creep,
You won’t even be the paper where a pencil finds relief.
No stronger man to drag you, it’s clear you lack belief…
No embrace to hold you back from the void of sweet relief,
No ease from all these others who just sapped the tree of life…
So cold, your blood is blue…the rocks have cut you like a knife.
Releases come in spurts as the bugs eat you alive,
the ants make you a home when you use to get them high…
the circle comes around until the cortex finds a shine,
You regulate the stem; that’s the beginning of your time.
The Elder Tree.
