There’s this town outside reality where life is full of cloudy things,
where the cumulus gets winded and the shadows are so towering…
overpowered by these energies, the darkness like a balcony -
the stars that give us strength are the light we don’t know how to be.

    Every lantern’s lit this night…the city’s all a ruckus,
I heard screaming down the way - for me? I think of runnin’
    Sheep’s blood upon my door…protection for what’s comin’ -
a beast who leaves the tower just to feast upon a youngin’..
he’s walked the Milky Way…and does the same upon my heart,
I bet the starry nights are somethin’…if I wasn’t on my guard.
I can almost see the rays…as I lay beneath my bed -
Staring up and out the window; distress consumes my head.
every galaxy aligned, a ways away and groomed by depth,
Unabashedly designed to change the pace; remove my breath…
I hold it in, I can’t escape it - I feel the terror of my neighbors,
I would describe this fear as one that I can’t quite write to paper.
What’s he look like? I can’t say what…because no one living’s seen him,
the Elder told us when he comes - we mustn’t trust the feeling…
when he walks upon your step? With fear - you’ll disbelieve it…
you’ll hear the knock and want to open ‘cause your lack of fear’s deceiving
if you could even look outside? that crescent moon would stop to stare,
the eyes of stars would be so wide that their shine would flaunt despair..
Even though they cannot speak they’d try to warn you that he’s there -
to flicker hope, but not to give it…there’s no way to be prepared.

It’s aflame during the day…at night the structure’s black,
with venomous display, it touched the sky with upturned hand,
It’s edges sharp as blades as if the lights are fighting back…
but those places are the fuel that let the creature find its path.
there’s some worship at the center, but we know the priest is vermin,
upon arrival he was sinful, sold his soul and gave his service…
All our candles out to hide us, but you’ll notice - NOT the church’s…
to even go there in the night is where a point of no return is. . .

The tower shades the house of God, the sky stares at them both,
a threesome made so deadly a beast is reared from the yolk…
Total slaughter; annihilation, my heart seized in my throat,
I cupped my ears for the children - had disagreements with hope…
my bravery bludgeoned, swoll… by something ancient untold…
I decided that I’d leave when the blood was aging and cold…
I snuck inside the night when I heard the screams of my folk -
I only looked back to paint it, signed…

Re: SSR Week 3 Champ Match: Cody Nash (2-0) vs Soule (2-0)

Born under the rising sun, my father was a great warrior who protected the land,
until the black mass of darkness gave birth to a demon who burnt the core of Japan.
Aku was pure evil, creating monsters and tearing through villages like a tidal wave,
until my father took the magic sword and removed the oni with it's vital blade.
For decades, the world was calm and safe from fear of monstrosities or tribal plagues,
but when I was a boy, there was a voice from the shadows that called for the final days.
That's when Aku was reborn, and his army bathed the Earth with blood and tears,
life as we knew it was forced to hide as the light dwindled in floods of spears.
Mankind was given the option, slavery or death, as the sword was stolen,
my father worked in the mines where every breath was short and hopeless.
I travelled and studied weaponry from every continent on the planet,
from spears to scimitars to the bow and knives, I learned how to survive and manage,
I became an assassin, a monk, a ninja and a samurai, and spent two years stranded,
learned how to hunt and farm, while also practicing how to deal critical damage.
I roamed far, in boat and car, becoming the perfect opposition for Aku's forces,
and in doing so, my mind was corrupted with thoughts even he'd find morbid.
I tore his minions apart limb by limb all over the world, but NOT to save lives...
but because in my mind, the hatred I bared was becoming the essence I made light.
I wanted to break spines. To take knifes and aim them at the heart under strange eyes,
to shave time off fate's line for every demon Aku claimed from people's gravesites.
I wanted to smell blood, to smash bone, to hear screams and feel monsters die,
to watch as they coughed and whined until they lost the fight and could no longer cry.
My father begged me to change, said he felt the same way once but it wasn't right,
killing Aku wouldn't save mankind because there'll always be darkness for him to find.
It's hidden in the base of our chest, where love and sorrow intertwine,
and it's stretched by the stress of anger that craters and hollows in the night.
I wouldn't listen, driven by my mission to seek vengeance through,
smitten by the image of children drifting in an endless crimson pool.
I apologize, but I refuse to lose while the root of evil still consumes,
until I force the magic sword into the forehead of Aku.
    .
    .
    .
    .
I pluck the blade from the face of a mountain, based in the fountain of youth,
chained by the veins of a titan, a giant who once grounded the truth.
With this power, I head to the wasteland Aku calls home to deliver hope,
when I pierce his throat and carve him up like he's a wicker post.
Leaving a trail of disembodied demons as his legions attempt to stop me,
and any who survive will stare at sleepless skies as my presence is haunting.
I enter the volcano where he rests, ready to fight, I begin taunting,
as he rises from the depths, I slice his flesh with a strike that's daunting.
Surprised. He's realized the katana I wield holds his only weakness,
and changes his form to parry my attacks, but my technique is seamless.
Frustrated, he changes into a hydra, but I continue to leave the villain speechless,
my ability far outweighs his evil as he drops to his back in pieces.
As I grip the handle and prepare my killing blow, he spews a few beams of light,
and I'm transported into the future where Aku has turned the Earth into his plight.
I swear to fulfill my oath as a Samurai, from this day until my last...
I'll hunt Aku down till I collapse, or my name isn't Jack!

Dope ass battle. Really enjoyed both verses. I've honestly spent way too much time trying to discern a winner. Nash had great narration, stellar flow & mechanics, but the knock is how you wrapped it up. Felt like a cop out. I like Soule'a take on the topic more. +1 for the toonami. nostalgia. Not as polished mechanically, but not bad by any means. And unlike his opponent, the ending gave a sense of resolution. Fuck you both for making this hard.

This to me was a beautiful battle. I would like to argue that i feel me and slayer battle outshines hahaha jk brothasss.... Anyways soule. This is the best dagel i have seen to be honest. The mechanics the diction the story the content the twist and the knowledge overall well placed and well thought out. Mechanically... Your drop was just phenomenal. Great work bro. Now cry i felt your verse and dug it and this week you decided to focus more topically than rhymes and rhythms and to be honest i felt that hurt you. For one it was never your to try and get to technical in storytelling and mechanically profound. You always had that creative spin with your rhymes. Dont get me wrong this shit still bounced but i felt you retracted a bit too much from it. The story none the less though was splendid and candid with the wordplay. Some phrases awkwardly i felt sounded off or metaphorically didnt bold well in painting the imagery. This was a great battle though realllllyyyyy close...... But i gotta edge it to soule here for tightening up his words and his forward diction. Keep it easy to read and not get to cluttered and abrupt to its rhythm and story. The fact of him twisting it to his virtue as well. Its just tough. It would be a lie and shame if i didnt acknowledge his writing. For me i got soule taking this as well for just an overall complete and perfect drop.

REALLY don't wanna close this at 2-0... So I'll close it when I wake up.

Cody’s take was super dope. Way to take one of the most written to and about pictures there is and do something different with it. The rhyme scheme was steady throughout and this piece really wasn’t flawed much at all. Souls came with sme heat. The story was great and the lines flowed without a hitch. I think Cody probably would’ve beaten anyone else this week but

Wish this could've gotten more votes. Especially since Self Activate, Mimic, slayerr, and emily viewed it. But the show must go on, so closed at 3-0.
