I wish I had the strength to fight them back
But who could hold back the floodgates from failing when you're weakened
I stand on the balcony and look over a speckled night-scape
And I feel the support of my legs giving way
I didn't know how bad it was....
I was told that conditions has muted your creativity
I don't hear the runs from the baby grand piano
Nor the stories of a child fresh into the world reading a business section upside down
I rather see the streaks of gray in that fresh Duke perm of yours
Bobbing to a piece written from the endless chord progression you have amassed
And even on this balcony, the dreams you opened up to me dissipates
You told me while speeding in your 911 that dreams are plans waiting to be put into action
Giving me my first opportunity to play in the 9 clouds
Believing in my skills, opting success to pay for my mistakes
Creating a giant secretly growing in your shadow
Feeding a soul that drew finger paintings of blank canvases
Coloring the tips of my expectation to intrude and destroy the blocks hindering me
You gave me purpose when worlds counseled me with silence
Now I wish I was there
In the stars you now reside
Making comets boogie in the rapture of your creativeness
And I could show you that I learned by ear the chords of "Ms. Pac Man"
working on the individual solos to see you smile
Finally telling you that I appreciate the sacrifice of your legs to help me rise
And I love you.....
Keep playing on those pearly keys opening smiles and bright eyes
