One day I walked outside to find the sun winked at me.
I said, "Hey sun, what is it you are winking at?"
He said he was winking at me, of course, that he
was mesmerized by my radiance.
I had to grin,
being told I was radiant, by the most radiant thing
I had ever seen. "And why is it I am so radiant?" I asked.
He told me it was because I was pure, that I shined
amongst the mass of men. I became red in the cheeks.
I was flattered, the sun was a flattering being.
I said, "Sun, I could not thank you enough, for once again
you have seemed to brighten my day!"
He began to laugh hysterically as he assured
me there was no need for thanks. After-all he was only
pulling my leg. That I was no more radiant than
a rat nestled up in it's sewer.
I almost began to cry,
and I ran inside. I haven't come out since;
I've become the laughing stock of the sky.
