My soundcard won't show up on Adobe Audition 3.0

"I believe some Edirol cards have a switch called something like "Advanced" that somehow enables asio."

I have done this & it still does not show up, does anyone know what might be causing this & how I can get my driver to show up instead of only Windows Sound

ok new situation my driver now shows up, however

Windows Sound has my drivers connection options, and my actual Driver I need to use doesn't, how do I fix this?,

EDIT: in advanced mode the annalog connector doesn't seem to show up, how can I fix this

ok heres another update, advanced mode only works in 24bit

does this mean if I set everything in adobe to 24 bit that stuff will work? also once that is done will my settings show the annalog connection?

Update: this has been figured out & this should be the final topic I make in this section for a while... lol

fuck yeah... I just solved a 2 month problem I can officially record

You should be using 24-bit regardless. Actually... 32-bit Float if it's an option.

I'd like to point out earlier in my problem, say few weeks ago I had my Adobe 1.5 on 32 bit & it was fuckin up extra bad, now I realise ASIO wasn't even supported then, however I talked to the music store I bought interface off & guy said I shouldn't be recording in 32 bit, but honestly I'd definately take your word over his

so the question is, may be dumb question but.. is 32-bit the same as 32-bit float? just wondering cus of the word ''float''.. if it is I could flip it to the actual 32 bit no problem if you reccomend it man?

That guy doesn't know what he's talking about. 32-bit float is essentially 24-bit but the algarithm it uses gives you extra head room so you're less likely to clip out your mix. If by fucking up you mean it was jumpy and slow then you just need to increase your buffer size a little in the audio settings.

not jumpy an slow, sorta crackle if too loud or somthing like a dynamic mic might if used to record, this problem seems to truly be fixed now with Adobe 3.0 & it supporting ASIO drivers

as for the 32 float thing, my bit rate option goes like 16, 32, and then u can also type in what bit rate you'd want so I typed in 24... here let me take a screen shot of the area & you tell me if I can/how to put it to ''32 bit float''

that is 32 bit float... if you go into Edit>Preferences, there is a setting that allows you to automatically set all samples in a project to 32 bit float... that way you don't have to worry 'bout it anymore...

Re: My soundcard won't show up on Adobe Audition 3

The only option is 16.8-32bit float which it is on & the bit is set to 24 so would that be right then? 16.8?

Another question, I noticed if I went a bit loud in my mic just now that my pop filter sorta shakes & that a crackle noise still happens, the pop filter is about 3-4 inches away from the mic, do you think it's possible the shaking or maybe the distance of pop filter could be causing a problem also? It never did with my USB mic but I also just tried without the pop filter and it crackles or pops out really really bad, my pop filter is a single layer not 2, could this be causing a problem at all cus if I don't 'emphasis words / potentially go louder' & just spit monotone it works perfectly

    Re:

You're probably clipping. Your vocals should be peaking at around -12dB. If this is the issue then turn the preamp down. Also, if you get louder then you need to move further away from the mic. You want your takes to be a consistent volume.

    *feels stupid*

what exactly is dB & how would I find -12dB, like I'm pretty sure this is the mic gain ur talkin about I just don't know where on it would be -12dB, my mic gain is usually a quarter way up & input half way, how much dB would that be

    Re

Watch the volume meter on the channel you're recording to in Audition. The meter should peak at about -12. Adjust the preamp until it does.
