Depends on what ur looking for. If you wanna drag race i would suggest a supercharger, as it is active as soon as you push the pedal. Keep in mind it robs some of your cars power in the higher speeds. Turbocharger increase maximum speed, but isnt gonna help you much on accelerating so you have to make a trade off. You can avoid that if you can get a mechanic who can install sequential turbos...

i could also get a turbo though and upgrade my transmission so that i could just adjust the gear ratios to how i like them though right?

Yeah you could do that, but keep in mind the turbo spins off of the exhaust that leaves the car wich causes it to spin. That means that it will only start working when youve been driving for a little bit, thats why a supercharger is better for drag.

not really, turbo lag is proportional to the size of the turbo. a turbo wont increase max speed the engine can only rev as high as it can.
a smaller turbo will come in sooner than a bigger turbo.
best bet for a drag type race wold be nos coupled with a big fuck off turbo use the nos to get u on boost...then use more nos. superchargers are generally a lot more expensive and will sap a lot of engine power to power them in the first place
