Until your tears have been exploited.

Lock away your 5 year old ambitions
As you see your childhood idol's
Playhouse doors latched and boarded,
All except for that open keyhole
To gaze upon all his dirt little secrets.

That yellow brick road withers
Into the balancing beam: progression,
Cracking upon its every center fold;
It becomes that yellow line on the go.
Don't you know? Life has surpassed you,

As that haggling bitch accidentally
Swaps a quater for your hollow soul.

So i read this, and it didnt really catch my attention 1st of all, until i got to the symbalism of the yellow brick road which i thought was deffintily the best part and the rest of that stanza was just brilliant to me.. then i read again and i captured the great use of emotion/anger and then saw how good this poem actually was
the pot of gold and open keyhole lines also stood out alot...

Everything in it relates to some form of childhood fantasy. The first stanza has refference to the wizard of oz, just like the verse you liked. The lover's lane and keyhole lines are actually reffering to Pee-Wee Herman... Lover's lane was a term used in the 50' s and it was the back row seating of a movie theater where people would go make out and such, and Pee Wee Herman was caught masterbating and was arresting at the movies, and it was a day alot of kids were really confused about and jsut another fantasy gone. So ya. And i'll go check you piece out soon.
