Other times, shit's too perfect.
This is one of those times. Or at least that's how it seems.
Started from nothin', now I'm amounted to somethin'
Wasn't raised top of the line, but I'm proud that I wasn't
Rebounded from crutches, still limpin' so I mounted the bus and
Took a ride down memory lane, tears, hennessey, pain
Takes more than sunshine to empty my brain
Fear no man but myself, sharin' my enemy's name
There's plenty of rain, to go around, no need to cut that line
Feelin', on top of the world, damn, I rushed that lie
Tryna, shut my eyes, but dreams won't hush my cries
Jehovah's knockin' on my door, but oppurtunity'll just rush on by
Wishin' I was stuck on dry, land but fallen stars just crush my pride
Someday I'll touch that sky, but, you know how that goes
Minimum wage, workin' for a manager slash asshole
It's my only source of cash though, so I can't quit
Baby girl already throwin' tantrums, plus my little man's sick
This life wasn't hand picked, damn
Started with somethin', a dream and a plan to get rich
But nightmares stay hauntin', tauntin' me to land in a ditch
Still I, manage to live, new toilet, still ramble through shit
Puttin' my life on these lines, now watch me gamble with it
Trapped behind these bars, feelin' like I can't handle the bid
Tryna lead myself down that tunnel with a candle, no wick
Watchin' hope slip away, but this is what I wanted, right?
Rockin' crowds, hoppin' towns, comes with no more lonely nights
But at the same time, gotta rely on false love holdin' me tight
Fast cars, big chains, this is supposed to be life
Or is it? No wifey at home, got me writin' this poem
Mind still strollin' on BoardWalk, but my life is at Go
Like I'm, the only one holdin' me back, but I'm not
I see success, and I'm supposed to be that, but I'm not
