And even bitches like Guestures ass carved a role out in the community, bad entertaining or both.. a crazy cast of characters some talented, annoying, some meant for bigger things we thought at the time (Kris cain for a while).. someone said SlimThug made an account here.. the one dude that was doing Smack or KOTD dude Kannon (sp?) Actually started here... crew wars, audio tourneys and leagues evolved into video leagues like a decade ago.. it was tight man.. I never really frequented other sites cuz I didn't have to or felt some sense of pride sticking here lmao...
It was a hell of a time to be in the thick of it and can still remember the highs, lows and the some of the cool peeps we all met along the way.
Wonder if that Mariah chic has only fans now....
Aren’t Kris Cain and Syntax Mastery the same person or am I trippin?
You’re talking about Big Kannon I believe. I remember he had a crazy ass rebuttal/bar in a YouTube battle about Rip Hamilton and “you know I’m the shooter when I mask up.”
I actually met Mariah at a KOTD event in Oakland back in like 2019 lol.

She was probably like mid 20’s at the time. She honestly just looked the same as I remembered her from pics on here. She was nice though.
Honestly got faded af that day, shit was hella fun. Dizaster, Illmac, Saurus, Bigg K, A.Ward, Rum, Geechi, Madflex, Ill Will, Pass. Stacked ass event.

Damn that sounded like a dope ass event.
Re: 1-2 Punch League 2025 Chat
Yeah all them dudes are pretty much cool to interact with. I’ve occasionally ran bars by Madflex on Twitter lol.
I went to Rum vs. Daylyt in Houston for Chilla’s TBL Apollo event earlier this year. Jey The Nitewing vs. Ill Will and Illmac vs. Real Sikh stole the show though. Mook was there for the announcement of his battle with Hitman. We chopped it up for a minute. I thought he’d be taller than me for some reason lol.
Never got to see Pat Stay battle, which sucks because he’s the goat and was unbeatable in peak form imo. I’d really like to catch Iron Solomon live, if he ever makes a comeback and battles again.
Re: 1-2 Punch League 2025 Chat
Yea those few you mentioned live would be dope as hell. Iron was one of my favorites from that era no question

Pat Stay took something from battle rap with him when he passed in my opinion. So many dudes afraid to make the shit entertaining the way he did.

I don’t even know that it’s about mfs being afraid necessarily. Although I get what you mean about their need to portray an image and stay in character. Like your Tay Roc and K-Shine types. Pat was just different though. He was the most versatile battler stylistically, who could adapt to any stage or style. Most battle rappers simply ain’t performers/entertainers on that level. It’s not in them. His charisma and ability to captivate an entire crowd was insane. If you were a hood ass gun bar Smack rapper, he could use comedy to water your shit down. Plus he was a big ass dude, so optically you ain’t just finna bully him. If you were a KOTD guy, he’d switch it up and do some other shit. He was so adept at either making his opponent laugh or making them mad, and in either scenario you’re showing emotion during a battle and probably losing as a result.
I could go on. There won’t be another Pat Stay, who will come along and be that versatile/dynamic at the highest level in any league and control crowds.
And, perhaps most importantly, Pat would have voted for my “shockingly bad/getting tased” line.

This is random, but some funny ass shit from that Houston event was seeing Danny Myers out in the separate lobby area of the event center rappin/rehearsing his rounds to himself before his battle. That dude LOVES battle rap lol he was locked tf in just posted in the corner solo.

Par was verified and certified, had stage presence , comedy, real bars, rebuttals. it’s hard to fill those shoes. Damn now that you mentioned it I haven’t been watching battles like I used too since Pay passed.

This is what I'm saying. I'm not saying he was all of battling on his own but it seems like when he passed, there was a shift towards long drawn out violent bars to get the Rick Flair reaction from crowds. I still listen to battles but it's lacking originality for most part. A lot of dudes don't stand out much.
